Our Consumer Facing Design Team creates exceptional travel experiences across Hotel Accommodations, Homes, Reviews, Content & Localization. We focus on a booking platform that prioritizes choice, value, usability, and personalization for customers across our platform.
The Product Design Lead, Consumer Facing – Responsibilities
Lead design strategy for complex initiatives and grow design leaders.
Drive alignment between design and business objectives and ensure measurement of core product initiatives.
Guide and inspire a team of designers, fostering a high-performing, capability-complete team; hire designers to fill open headcount and foster a positive culture.
Coach and mentor direct reports to grow in their careers.
Define and sell a coherent medium-to-long term design vision with milestones and short-term actions; partner with design leadership to shape management practices.
Represent the team upwards, advocating for priorities and addressing misalignments or challenges with stakeholders.
Collaborate with product managers and engineers to streamline the booking process and deliver seamless experiences for accommodations.
Day to Day
Manage scope of work for the team and determine how to divide work among designers.
Lead design strategy for complex initiatives and grow design leaders.
Align design work with business objectives and measure impact on core product initiatives.
Ensure high-quality design decisions and effective execution by addressing questions, bottlenecks, dependencies, and conflicts with stakeholders.
Establish and apply effective design processes.
Build a healthy, high-performing team; hire to fill vacancies and maintain positive culture.
Mentor designers to enhance competencies and career growth.
Product Design Lead – Qualifications & Qualities
Proven track record in leading design strategy for complex initiatives and mentoring design leaders.
Ability to lead through ambiguity and persuade senior leaders to align on vision and approach.
Holistic thinking to identify customer experience opportunities with organizational impact.
Experience partnering with design leadership to shape management practices and mentor other design leaders.
Knowledge of current native technologies and design patterns; guide the team accordingly.
Strong communication and collaboration skills; translate quantitative and qualitative insights into design decisions.
