Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Ranger to join our team at Kingfisher Bay Resort. As a key member of our nature-based programs team, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and insightful guest experiences through a range of immersive activities.

Our resort rangers play a crucial role in facilitating our weekly 'What's on guide' and lead various activities such as canoe paddles, presentations, Segway tours, bush tucker tastings, guided walks, junior ranger programs, archery, and personalized tours around the island.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental interpretation, including communication of diverse topics related to fauna, flora, ecology, history, and culture. They will also provide exceptional customer service by anticipating guest needs and surpassing expectations.

This is a permanent part-time live-on position that offers a unique opportunity to live and work on a stunning World Heritage-listed island off Australia's Eastern Queensland coast.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading interpretive walks and presentations to groups of 20-30 people
  • Facilitating canoe paddles, Segway tours, and archery sessions
  • Meeting and greeting guests on arrival
  • Working with children in junior ranger and school group programs
  • Running school/conference group activities, including raft building, scavenger hunts, and hut building

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A degree in Environmental Sciences, Animal Ecology, Marine Sciences, or Outdoor Education
  • First aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month)
  • A valid QLD Driver's Licence
  • Queensland Paid Blue Card (working with children check clearance) or ability to obtain within 1 month
  • A valid MR Licence
  • Industry Authority (Drivers Authorisation) highly regarded or ability to obtain within 3 months
