Underwriter Role

We are seeking an experienced underwriter to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in underwriting and possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.

The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting risks in accordance with our company's underwriting philosophy and within own authority limits.

They will also assist in broker/client business development, deliver high levels of service to key clients/brokers, articulate our underwriting appetite, product suite, and value proposition, and ensure that all business is conducted, processed and administered in accordance with prevailing applicable policies, procedures and agreed service levels.

In addition, they will provide information and assistance as needed to ensure that other syndicate staff can carry out their responsibilities.

The candidate will also make every reasonable effort to increase own knowledge, skills and expertise in order to further personal development within the Class Underwriter role and reach a position where promotion to a more senior role is feasible.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience of Lloyd's / Company market in Underwriting / Broking.
  • Able to operate independently with little direction or guidance.
  • Self-reliance, use of initiative- a 'self-starter'.
  • Able to prioritize.
  • Strong team working approach.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Verbal, written and professional presence and ability to communicate at all levels with excellent negotiation skills.
