Job Overview:

The Solar Engineer is responsible for designing, installing and managing Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, including site assessments, PV layout preparation, Single Line Diagram (SLD) design, permitting and construction management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee project design, implementation and commissioning of solar PV systems, including project schedule monitoring, communication control and document flow to meet deadlines. Supervise workers and contractors on-site and attend meetings with clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide technical review, including solar software simulations (PVSyst), electrical cable sizing and SLD design to ensure compliance with relevant standards and achieve cost-effective solutions.
  • Assess sites, conduct detailed drawings and estimate solar project capacity and costs.
  • Ensure quality control over all projects.
  • Liaise with procurement and inventory control teams to ensure timely material supply.
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance of existing solar PV systems.
  • Attend sales presentations and meetings with clients as necessary.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in solar PV design and engineering for rooftop, ground-mounted or floating PV systems.
  • Experience in design and application of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with PV generation is an advantage.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design software (AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Team player with ability to manage clients and stakeholders.
