Structural Analysis and Cargo Securing Expert

As a structural analysis and cargo securing expert, you will be responsible for performing hull and deck structure strength assessments, including evaluation of hatch covers and above-deck stowage of heavy and project cargo. Your expertise will also extend to proposing and designing structural reinforcement and load-spreading solutions for specialty cargo securing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hull and Deck Structure Strength Assessments: Evaluate the integrity of ship structures, including hatch covers and above-deck stowage, to ensure safe transportation of heavy and project cargo.
  • Structural Reinforcement and Load-Spreading Solutions: Design and propose effective solutions for securing specialty cargo, minimizing the risk of damage or loss during transit.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports, including calculations, plans, and drawings, to support your recommendations and analyses.
  • Cargo Securing and Lashing Plans: Develop and implement efficient cargo securing and lashing plans to ensure secure stowage and minimize the risk of cargo shifting or falling during transit.
  • Heavy Lifting and Rigging Plans: Design and implement heavy lifting and rigging plans to ensure safe and efficient transfer of cargo.
  • Structural Analysis Reports and Drawings: Provide detailed reports and drawings outlining the results of your structural analysis and recommended courses of action.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Naval Architecture: Strong knowledge of naval architecture principles and practices is essential for this role.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Proficiency in FEA tools, such as Femap/Nastran, is required for structural simulation and validation.
  • Structural Analysis: Advanced knowledge of structural analysis techniques and software is necessary for evaluating and optimizing ship structures.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including business, chartering, and shipping partners.
