Job Title: Catalyst of Chemical Innovation

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our team in the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology. As a key member of Assistant Professor QIAO YUAN's lab, you will play a crucial role in advancing complex carbohydrate synthesis and bioactivity evaluations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting chemical synthesis and characterization of complex carbohydrates and analogues, developing LC-MS methods for structural elucidation of natural carbohydrates, and performing chemical biology assays to evaluate the bioactivity of natural and synthetic carbohydrates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute multi-step synthesis reactions
  • Analyze and interpret data from chemical characterization and LC-MS experiments
  • Develop and implement chemical biology assays to evaluate bioactivity
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recent PhD graduate in organic chemistry, natural product synthesis, chemical biology, or related fields
  • Research experience in handling air- and moisture-sensitive reactions; experience in natural product or carbohydrate/peptidomimetic synthesis preferred
  • A strong publication record, with at least first-author publications in high-quality journals
  • Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
