Job Role Overview

Supporting the smooth operation of our science laboratories is a crucial aspect of this role. As a Science Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital part in ensuring that our teaching facilities are well-maintained and equipped to provide an excellent learning environment for our students.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare apparatus, equipment, and teaching materials as requested by science teachers.
  • Collect and clear equipment after lessons, safely dispose of waste, and wash apparatus.
  • Check for faulty or damaged equipment and report to the science teacher and/or Head of Department; carry out repairs if possible.
  • Coordinate with the Technical Assistant to ensure all IT equipment is in working condition.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working in a science laboratory, preferably with 2 years of experience in a primary school setting. They should be independent, confident, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintaining an inventory of lab stocks.
  • Liaising with the Head of Department to replenish consumables.
  • Maintaining a stock book and recording breakages.
  • Tracking apparatus and reference materials loaned to teachers.
  • Supporting teachers during practical assessments.
  • Assisting in preparations for science exhibitions.

Requirements:

  • Secondary 4 education or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience working in a science laboratory.
  • Strong team player who is organised, meticulous, and able to multi-task.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
