Research Associate, AI for Biomedicine

The MVAIT lab at Nanyang Technological University is a hub for cutting-edge research in AI for medicine. Our team is dedicated to developing innovative AI and software tools for medical data analysis, with a focus on enhancing clinical efficiency and introducing affordable biomedical technology to society.

As a Research Associate, you will play a key role in conducting research on medical imaging data processing, 3D reconstruction, and AI algorithms with surgical robotics. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing state-of-the-art algorithms, developing and refining AI tools for diverse medical domains, and collaborating with external researchers and interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement AI algorithms to analyze medical datasets, including MR, CT, X-ray, and microscopy data.
  • Conduct research on high-precision medical analysis and data interpretation.
  • Develop, test, and refine AI tools for different medical domains, ensuring efficiency in real-world medical settings.
  • Design dashboards or visualization tools to incorporate implemented AI algorithms, and utilize VR/AR equipment and 3D visualization to enhance understanding for clinicians and facilitate student training.
  • Collaborate with external researchers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure project practicality and clinical relevance.
  • Assist in developing AI-assisted robotic solutions for surgical procedures, including pre-operative planning and intra-operative guidance.
  • Analyze and interpret data outcomes from AI models and medical procedures to provide critical insights and suggestions for improvements.
  • Stay aligned and updated with the latest advancements in medical imaging, image processing, and robotics to ensure research is at the forefront of the field.
  • Collaborate with external researchers to conduct research on AI and ML on medical datasets.
  • Publish articles in high-quality journals, ensuring research is recognized and accessible to the broader scientific community.
  • Participate in drafting research projects to secure funding and contribute to the strategic research direction of the lab.
  • Ensure research activities adhere to ethical guidelines and patient data privacy regulations.

Requirements:


• Trained (Masters for Research Associate) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or associated programs.


• Strong experience in deep learning, AI, computer vision, machine learning, medical image analysis, and healthcare.


• Expert knowledge of Python, C++, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.


• Experience in analyzing medical imaging datasets.


• Experience in medical software implementation is a plus.


• Good ability to communicate data science models to non-data science audiences using simple language.


• Existing publications in top-tier AI or computer vision journals/conferences are preferred.


• Strong motivation in state-of-the-art research and publication.
