Research Associate, AI for Biomedicine

The MVAIT lab at Nanyang Technological University is a leading research institution in the field of AI for medicine. Our team conducts high-quality research on AI and software tools for the analysis of medical data, including omics, cell, and medical imaging data. Our goal is to enhance clinical efficiency and introduce affordable and effective biomedical technology to society.

The Research Associate will play a key role in conducting research on medical imaging data processing, 3D reconstruction, and AI algorithms with surgical robotics. The successful candidate will design and implement state-of-the-art algorithms, develop and refine AI tools tailored for diverse medical domains, and collaborate with external researchers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure project practicality and clinical relevance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement AI algorithms to analyze medical datasets, including MR, CT, X-ray, and microscopy data.
  • Conduct research on high-precision medical analysis and data interpretation.
  • Develop, test, and refine AI tools for different medical domains, ensuring efficiency in real-world medical settings.
  • Design dashboards or visualization tools to incorporate implemented AI algorithms and utilize VR/AR equipment and 3D visualization to enhance understanding for clinicians and facilitate student training.
  • Collaborate with external researchers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure project practicality and clinical relevance.
  • Assist in developing AI-assisted robotic solutions for surgical procedures, including pre-operative planning and intra-operative guidance.
  • Analyze and interpret data outcomes from AI models and medical procedures to provide critical insights and suggestions for improvements.
  • Stay aligned and updated with the latest advancements in medical imaging, image processing, and robotics to ensure research is at the forefront of the field.
  • Collaborate with external researchers to conduct research on AI and ML on medical datasets.
  • Publish articles in high-quality journals to ensure research is recognized and accessible to the broader scientific community.
  • Participate in drafting research projects to secure funding and contribute to the strategic research direction of the lab.
  • Ensure research activities adhere to ethical guidelines and patient data privacy regulations.
Requirements:


• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or associated programs.


• Strong experience in deep learning, AI, computer vision, machine learning, medical image analysis, and healthcare.


• Expert knowledge of Python, C++, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.


• Experience in analyzing medical imaging datasets.


• Experience in medical software implementation is a plus.


• Good ability to communicate data science models to non-data science audiences using simple language.


• Existing publications in top-tier AI or computer vision journals/conferences are preferred.


• Strong motivation in state-of-the-art research and publication.
