About the Job

The successful candidate will lead an interdisciplinary research programme focusing on Artificial Intelligence applied to Energy Applications at ERI@N, a pan-university research institute.

This Programme Director will enable AI and digitalization across the energy domain and work with other Programme Directors to increase the deployment of AI applications across the energy sector.

The scope includes various applications such as future grid applications, predictive failure detection of Energy Storage Systems, optimization of the hydrogen economy, clean future mobility, and smart buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Director in scientific and technical matters related to individual areas of expertise.
  • Support or lead research and development, demonstration, and deployment of innovative energy solutions that involve research in energy systems and alternative energy sources.
  • Identify strategic R&D focus and lead technical roadmap development and technology assessments for various energy domains.
  • Recommend and support in developing strategic capabilities and core competence in targeted areas.
  • Facilitate and lead joint research and development agreements with industry or university partners.
  • Manage projects in the group and serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) of key projects to ensure they meet scientific/technical targets.
  • Provide scientific/technical leadership and mentorship to team members, including relationship management with stakeholders (government agencies, research partners, NTU Management).
  • Advise the research team on preparing grant proposals, intellectual property filings, presentations, and publishing research papers in journals/conference proceedings as defined in project scope and agreements.
