Job Summary:
Horticulture and Living Collections is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Trainee Horticulturists. As a Trainee Horticulturist, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in horticultural and associated activities, while assisting other staff to implement the operational plan as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of the operational plan and participate in team activities.
- Learn and develop skills in horticultural and associated activities.
- Participate in formal training and study towards Certificate II or III in Horticulture.
- Contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the botanic garden and its collections.
Selection Criteria:
- Successful completion of Year 10.
- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of horticulture.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness and ability to perform physical work year round in an outdoor team environment.
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the Western Australian flora.
Requirements:
- Australian citizenship, New Zealand citizenship, or Australian permanent residency status, or a visa with entitlement to live and work in Australia for the term of the contract.
- Ability to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
- Ability to complete a satisfactory pre-employment medical prior to commencement.
