Job Title: Drama / Theatre Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Drama / Theatre Technician to join our team.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of our drama and theatre facilities, including the main 550 seat auditorium and two black box theatres.

This role would suit an individual with experience in theatre lighting and sound, who is familiar with all aspects of production techniques.

  • Design and operate sound, lighting and other effects during performances, as directed by members of the creative and production teams.
  • Help source, build and furnish events and performances with appropriate lighting, sound and scenery as needed.
  • Maintain and update the lighting, sound, costume, property and set inventories of the Drama Department.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with our Health & Safety Policy and promote a culture of safety.
  • Attend production meetings and regular technical department meetings as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant diploma or higher education qualification.
  • A thorough understanding of the production process and theatre production techniques.
  • Proficiency in lighting, sound, rigging, and stage machinery.
  • Problem-Solving Skills; ability to troubleshoot equipment quickly under pressure.
  • Attention to detail – Ensuring cues, setups, and equipment checks are accurate.
  • Experience with sound and lighting design and digital cameras.
  • Safety Awareness – Understanding of theatre health and safety protocols.
