Theatre Technician Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Theatre Technician to support the smooth running of our drama and theatre facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and ensure the smooth operation of the technical aspects of the auditorium and black box theatres on a day-to-day basis.
  • Design and operate sound, lighting, and other effects during performances.
  • Source and prepare events with appropriate lighting, sound, and scenery as needed.
  • Help maintain and update the lighting, sound, costume, property, and set inventories of the drama department.

Requirements:

  • A relevant diploma or higher education qualification.
  • A thorough understanding of the production process and theatre production techniques.
  • Proficiency in lighting, sound, rigging, and stage machinery.
  • Problem-solving skills, you should have the ability to troubleshoot equipment quickly under pressure.
  • Attention to detail - ensuring cues, setups, and equipment checks are accurate.
