Job Description:

This role involves underwriting risks in accordance with the company's underwriting philosophy and within own authority limits. As a class underwriter for Fine Art & Specie, you will support senior leaders in delivering strategy and business plans.

The successful candidate will ensure that all underwriters underwrite risks in accordance with the Company's agreed appetite, authorities and processes. Key responsibilities include managing the Fine Art & Specie portfolio, providing professional service to brokers and clients, and complying with personal underwriting authority.

Assist in ensuring that the Fine Art & Specie Underwriting Guidelines are reviewed and updated at least annually. Ensure underwriters with Fine Art & Specie authority underwrite in accordance with personal underwriting authority. Conduct the Fine Art & Specie business in accordance with prevailing policies, procedures and agreed service levels.

Ensure premium entries in Subscribe are accurately maintained in accordance with applicable procedures. Act in accordance with all regulatory standards and principles at all times. Provide information and assistance as needed to ensure other syndicate staff can carry out their responsibilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience of Lloyd's market as Underwriter or Broker is essential.
  • Detailed Fine Art & Specie product knowledge with strong understanding of pricing and policy wordings.
  • Chartered Insurance Institute qualification or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Able to operate independently with little direction or guidance and strong team working approach.
  • Good verbal, written and professional presence and ability to communicate at all levels with excellent negotiation skills.
