Network Security Engineer

The role of Network Security Engineer is to ensure the security and integrity of our network infrastructure. This includes configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting firewall and intrusion prevention systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing Level 2 support for firewall and intrusion prevention systems (IPS)
  • Collaborating with other engineers to support both network and security devices across multiple campus locations
  • Managing and maintaining firewall policies, rules, and configurations in accordance with security best practices
  • Performing incident response and remediation for security events in coordination with the security operations team
  • Supporting centralized network administration for switches, routers, wireless controllers, and other network equipment
  • Participating in change management and problem resolution processes
  • Ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and contributing to monthly reporting using ITSM/ITOM tools

Requirements include:

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in firewall administration and network support
  • Strong knowledge of firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA/Firepower)
  • Solid understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs)
  • Experience with intrusion prevention systems (IPS) and security monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with ITSM/ITOM platforms for incident and change management
  • Ability to work in a multi-site environment and support remote and onsite operations

Working Environment:

Onsite presence may be required at institutions within a 3-5 km radius. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including Level 1 and Level 3 support. Participation in after-office hour support depending on operational needs.
