This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team of conservationists working tirelessly to protect the unique ecosystems of New Zealand. As a volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in preserving the delicate balance of nature and supporting the growth of sustainable communities.
">Job Description:
The organization is built on sustainable principles and operates entirely off-grid, utilizing recycled materials from previous projects. Our team collaborates with the Department of Conservation to safeguard and monitor precious wildlife in various forests, each boasting its distinctive characteristics.
Key Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will engage in a wide range of activities, including creating access trails, protecting native species from invasive predators, planting native trees, monitoring pest populations, and building an environment that fosters the continued presence of endangered Kiwi and Kokako birds.
Benefits:
You will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in restoration work, develop leadership skills by leading small teams of volunteers, and learn the fundamentals of establishing a not-for-profit organization from inception to accounting and marketing strategies. Additionally, you will participate in self-discovery through immersion in a remote forest setting and explore local attractions such as ancient trees and scenic lakes.
Requirements:
To excel in this position, you should possess strong communication and teamwork skills, be comfortable with physical labor, and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and conservation efforts. A background in research, training, or science is highly desirable, but not essential.
