Job Title: Helpline Paracounsellor

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Helpline Paracounsellor to join our team at the Institute of Mental Health. As a key member of our support services, you will play a vital role in providing support and psychoeducation to individuals struggling with Gambling, Substance, and Behavioural addiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and guidance to callers via phone and webchat
  • Assess and triage client needs, providing resources and referrals as necessary
  • Deliver brief-intervention and education on our services
  • Manage distress calls and provide crisis support
  • Motivate and support clients towards positive change
  • Participate in projects and initiatives to improve our services
  • Identify callers at risk and provide appropriate intervention
  • Access client concerns and provide referrals to relevant resources

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field
  • Motivation to help others and passion for mental health support
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work shifts, including evenings and weekends

Working Hours:

Monday to Sunday, including public holidays. AM shifts: 8am-2pm, PM shifts: 2pm-11pm.
