Philosophy of Science and Technology Faculty Position

The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is seeking a tenure-track assistant professor in philosophy of science and technology to join its Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) cluster. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the cluster's research and teaching initiatives, particularly in the areas of ethics in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate humanities core courses and electives in philosophy of science and technology
- Contribute to interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives, including mentoring students and fostering collaborations with industry and public service sectors
- Develop and maintain a strong research portfolio in philosophy of science and technology, with a focus on ethics in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in a humanities-related discipline, such as philosophy or digital humanities
- Demonstrated research and teaching expertise in philosophy of science and technology, with a focus on ethics in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
- Ability to contribute to the development of the HASS cluster's research and teaching initiatives
Application Instructions:
Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of current and future research plans, statement of teaching experience and philosophy, and a 500-word description and selected bibliography of up to ten readings for two courses they may wish to offer. Two representative publications and names, affiliations, and email addresses of three referees should also be included.
Full consideration will be given to applications received by the deadline. Interviews will likely take place at the end of January/early February 2025.
