Strategic Chartering Leader

Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Strategic Chartering Leader to play a pivotal role in managing vessel chartering activities across multiple trade lanes and regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on container vessels and possess excellent market analysis and charter rate assessment skills.

This leadership position will oversee all chartering activities specific to container vessels, identify and secure container tonnage for short-term and long-term charters based on trade requirements, and negotiate charter party terms and finalize contracts with shipowners and operators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage vessel chartering activities across global markets.
  • Identify and secure container tonnage for short-term and long-term charters.
  • Negotiate charter party terms and finalize contracts with shipowners and operators.
  • Provide ongoing market analysis and charter rate assessments to support commercial decisions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • At least 8 years of relevant chartering experience, with a strong track record specifically in container vessel chartering.
  • Proven ability to source, negotiate, and close container vessel charters (both spot and time charters).
  • Familiarity with container ship types, trade dynamics, and current market conditions.
  • Prior experience managing commercial negotiations and chartering strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin is a must to liaise with the relevant Chinese stakeholders.
