Contract Manager will work with the team to ensure all vessels operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.


The role is responsible for securing mid to long-term maritime transportation capacity for customers and imports, while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.


Key responsibilities include negotiating contracts, managing disputes, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.


The ideal candidate will have a degree in Maritime Studies or related field, 2-5 years of relevant experience, and strong knowledge of dry bulk charter parties and voyage calculation methods.


Proficient in MS Applications, especially Excel, and good interpersonal skills are essential.


The Contract Manager will also provide support to Shipping Managers on audits, compliance, and international sanctions, as well as assist in maintaining and updating chartering procedures.


Responsibilities:

  • Secure mid to long-term shipping contracts aligned with Vale's strategic objectives
  • Oversee contract administration and ensure compliance with agreed terms and conditions
  • Collaborate with the team to align Vale's contracts with current and emerging shipping regulations
  • Assist in designing and implementing standardized procedures and processes to enhance contract management
  • Prepare and manage documentation for submission to senior leadership
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or related discipline
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in dry bulk shipping business
  • Strong knowledge of dry bulk charter parties and voyage calculation methods
  • Proficient in MS Applications, especially Excel
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Capesize market and iron ore business
  • Knowledge of shipping systems such as IMOS and SEA
  • Power BI skills advantageous
