Splunk Infrastructure Engineer Job Description

At our organization, we are seeking an experienced Splunk Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our Splunk infrastructure.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale Splunk environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, networking, and data analytics, as well as excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform checks and troubleshooting to ensure Splunk services function as intended across all environments.
  • Maintain and monitor Splunk infrastructure (Search Heads, Indexers, Forwarders, Deployment Server, Cluster Master, etc.).
  • Evaluate and improve indexing performance, storage usage, and data lifecycle.
  • Verify and troubleshoot log ingestion from agents (forwarders) and external sources (e.g., CloudWatch, syslog servers).
  • Integrate Splunk with Authority's systems for real-time monitoring and alerts on infrastructure issues.
  • Fine-tune Splunk rules and develop or validate custom parsers as requested.
  • Support SOC operations for threat detection, auditing, and incident response.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Splunk administration and engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of Splunk architecture, deployment models, and best practices.
  • Excellent understanding of system administration, networking, and data analytics.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and deployment models.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Perl.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
