Senior Pharmacist Role

The position of Senior Pharmacist is a critical one in any healthcare organization.

  • Key responsibilities include the safe, efficient, and timely distribution of drugs in the hospital environment.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Pharmacists are responsible for reviewing written order forms to determine drug needs, ensuring no overdoses or toxic reactions will result from administration.
  • They fill prescriptions by filling bottles, packaging material, dosage form, and other packaging forms with measured amounts of medication.
  • Effective communication with patients is essential, explaining directions for prescription use clearly and concisely.
  • Interprofessional collaboration is also vital, providing information to other health professionals as needed.
  • Ensuring that patients receive their medications correctly in a timely manner is paramount.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Leadership skills are necessary for assigning, overseeing, and reviewing the work of pharmacy assistants, technicians, and purchasing officers.
  • Maintaining accurate records pertaining to all phases of drug and supply ordering, storage, and distribution is crucial.
  • Participating in Pharmacy education and development programs is essential for staying current with best practices.
  • Representing the pharmacy on various committees as assigned is also an important aspect of this role.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy is required.
  • Registration with the Singapore Pharmacy Council is mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently is essential.
  • Strong listening and communication skills are vital for success in this role.
