Job Title: Unix Systems Engineer

As a skilled engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of our Unix systems and virtualized servers on VMware. This role requires strong technical knowledge of Unix/Linux systems, hands-on experience with VMware technologies, and familiarity with enterprise infrastructure tools and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL).">
  • Manage, provision, and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.">
  • Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.">
  • Implement and maintain system security, patching, and compliance in line with CIS benchmarks.">
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems.">
  • File system and storage management, manage disk partitioning and logical volume management (LVM), including resizing and splitting mount points.">
  • Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools.">
  • Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware systems.">
  • Collaborate with application teams to support deployments, upgrades, and system migrations.">
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.">
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.">

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.">
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.">
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.">
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).">
  • Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.">
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.">
