Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer - Marine/Offshore to join our team at Goltens. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing piping systems for marine and offshore applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare piping material specifications, MTOs, and end connection fitting details for BWTS and Scrubber systems.
  • Perform detail engineering and design of new piping installations on board ships.
  • Generate detail piping drawings for submission to Classification Societies for approval and production/installation on board.
  • Assist in performing laser scanning on board and verifying actual possible retrofit conditions of BWTS and Scrubber systems.
  • Evaluate structural analysis, loading calculations, pressure drop/friction loss calculations, and drawings.
  • Respond to Classification comments to expedite design approval.
  • Prepare piping specifications and pump specifications, including specifications for piping arrangement and piping support standards.
  • Preliminary equipment layout in engine rooms, pumps, and auxiliary rooms.
  • Study scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specifications, drawings, and plot plans.
  • Prepare piping information lists, layouts, and document lists following standard procedures.
  • Provide field engineering support and advice towards piping installation and testing on board.
  • Provide related technical and documentation support to customers.
  • Plan and work with design subcontractors for accurate delivery schedules and update project teams to communicate with customers.
  • Communicate and liaise with customers, principals, and other involved parties, as well as Goltens departments and sales staff, during project execution until completion.
Requirements
  • Minimum degree/diploma in Marine Offshore Engineering from a recognized institute.
  • Preferably with minimum 3 years' experience in marine piping, mechanical design.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in 2D and 3D design ship design tools, such as Cadmatic, Autocad, and Point Cloud modeling software.
  • Knowledge of classification rules and requirements, statutory regulations, marine safety, and technical codes applicable to ships.
  • Understanding of basic piping design principles and rules for classification societies for Marine and Offshore.
  • Good skills and knowledge in project management.
  • Familiar with classification rules and guidelines, such as DNVGL, ABS, LR, CCS, BV, and NK.
Preferred Skills
  • Design and engineering of piping systems.
  • Experience in checking onboard piping systems for BWTS or other systems.
  • Experience in making piping design calculations, such as pipe sizing, wall thickness, pressure drop, pump head, air receiver, BWTS, and Scrubber systems.
  • Experience in preparation of P&IDs for marine piping systems.
  • Experience in preparation and review of piping layouts, managing to update drawings and deliverables.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
