Geotechnical Tunneling Expert

  • Review geological data and soil samples from shaft excavation, mined and bored tunnels, and provide assessments and advice on the impact to shaft and tunnel works.
  • Assess face conditions during excavation to confirm stability of the ground for working conditions.
  • Conduct face mapping for mined and bored tunnels.
  • Perform ground condition checks during cutterhead interventions for tunneling works.
  • Evaluate risks related to soft ground, rock tunneling, and mixed-face conditions.
  • Lead geotechnical aspects of tunneling projects from feasibility to construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review instrumentation results against design.
  • Review instrumentation and monitoring plans (e.g., inclinometers, piezometers, settlement markers).

Requirements:

">
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology recognized by the PE Board.
  • Minimum eight years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Able to monitor and review instrumentation results against design.
  • Ability to carry out works under compressed air.
  • Preferred five years of experience in handling MRT tunnel projects and at least five years of experience in construction supervision of geotechnical work for projects of similar scale, complexity, and nature of work.
    • This is an opportunity to lead geotechnical aspects of tunneling projects from feasibility to construction.
    • As a geotechnical tunneling expert, you will be responsible for reviewing geological data and soil samples, assessing face conditions, and evaluating risks related to soft ground, rock tunneling, and mixed-face conditions.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently are essential for this role.
