About the Role
This role will play a crucial part in the implementation of a meaningful and relevant claims philosophy, promoting and sharing best practice claims management techniques with clients and internal stakeholders. Reporting to the Claims Manager of L&H Claims SEA, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations supporting SEA L&H Claims team. You will work to develop, maintain and implement governance, reporting, client management, claims adjudication, risk management strategies and operational services to ensure the functioning of the team in these respects and adherence to relevant guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Claims adjudication experience is key in demonstrating the ability to recommend and communicate claims decisions. Provide accurate and consistent claims decisions on a timely basis through prudent case assessment and strategic thinking skills;
- Supporting the Claims team to assess and manage client claims case referrals ensuring those are within the terms and conditions of the policy and pricing assumptions;
- Manage the day-to-day operations to carry out his/her responsibilities effectively;
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment, sharing certain responsibilities and supporting mutual dependencies through effective communication and collaboration.
- Work closely with team members in managing client relationships, providing solutions and value-added claims services, including training, claims management, seminars, meetings, etc.
- Assist in conducting Claims Review/Audits and ensuring they are conducted within internal framework, and provide suggestions to both the technical claims decision and operational efficiency to enhance clients' claims standards;
- Assist in developing and delivering effective learning utilizing training modules & presentations to raise the client's claims knowledge and competency level;
- Ensure required claims data and reports are accurate and complete for business reporting purposes (KPIs, market experience, trends and insights);
- Assist in carrying out internal Quality Assurance reviews and producing regular governance and internal reportings;
- Assist Claims Manager and Head L&H UW & Claims SEA on ad-hoc and ongoing claims projects as assigned.
About the Team
We are part of Life & Health (L&H) Reinsurance Southeast Asia team focusing on Life & Health underwriting and claims support. The SEA L&H Underwriting & Claims team supports our clients on new product development opportunities leveraging on our underwriting expertise and claims management experience. We work collaboratively with our clients and stakeholders to proactively manage risks, improve risk appetite and embrace new changes in risk philosophy. We are looking for candidates to be part of our team who exhibit or have the potential to embrace our core values and contribute to Swiss Re's target by providing best-in-class risk management.
About You
- Degree in either insurance/business/financial services/law/medical disciplines;
- 3 to 5+ years technical L&H claims experience;
- Significant awareness of life insurance markets and portfolio dynamics in Asia;
- Knowledge of local markets' claims practice, claims philosophy, regulation and product features;
- Good understanding as well as knowledge of the insurance/reinsurance industry;
- The ability to conduct client audits and develop training materials from audit findings to strengthen client's technical knowledge;
- The capability to consider data, identify anomalies and use information to develop action plans;
- Negotiation, communication, influencing and presentation skills;
- Strong computer skills (. Outlook/Word/Excel/Power Point);
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English and proficiency in other languages would be a plus;
- Good track record in your career of high integrity, of dedication, client-centric mindset and agility;
- Organized and meticulous with a keen eye for details;
- Collaboration capability and the ability to work in cross-functional teams;
- Ability to work independently, self-motivating, under pressure and manage deadlines;
- Ability to adapt to changes and implement them accordingly;
- Courage to challenge the status quo and to explore new ideas that can improve our business;
- Some business travel as required, approx. 10%.
