Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Cost Estimator to join our team at Teambuild Construction Group. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of project cost management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the construction process.

  • Tender Management Responsibilities:
    • Analyze tender documents to confirm all measurements and quantities are accurately represented, ensuring realistic financial assessments for each project.
    • Solicit quotations from approved and potential subcontractors to foster competitive tender submissions.
    • Examine construction, architectural, and mechanical drawings to incorporate special requirements and annotations into tender proposals.
    • Collaborate with the construction team to clarify the scope of tender submissions, addressing any unique requirements or atypical scopes.
    • Clearly communicate any assumptions made during the preparation of bills of quantities.
  • Contract Management Duties:
    • Draft and finalize contract documents for approval by relevant parties, ensuring all details are accurate and comprehensive; follow up on warranty approvals.
    • Reassess complete quantities across various disciplines (residential, architectural, civil, and site) using full sets of drawings and specifications.
    • Evaluate actual project quotations from suppliers and submit them for management review.
    • Facilitate the issuance of Letters of Intent, Letters of Award, and work orders to formalize engagements following the receipt of architect instructions.
    • Manage project variation orders and prepare the final project account for assessment.
  • Project Management Functions:
    • Oversee project registration and ensure all necessary documents are duly signed by all parties involved.
    • Administer project insurance to guarantee comprehensive risk coverage.
    • Participate in all project meetings (including handover, technical discussions, and client consultations) to ensure effective communication and alignment for smooth project execution.
    • Provide data to project teams to assist in waste management and control.
  • Financial and Commercial Oversight:
    • Supervise the process of progressive payments to subcontractors and finalize their accounts.
    • Monitor deductions for materials procured on behalf of subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Process vendor payments and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
    • Prepare budgets for construction projects and conduct biannual reviews of working budgets.
  • Vendor Management Activities:
    • Maintain and update the vendor list regularly.
    • Conduct pre-qualification assessments for new vendors.
    • Negotiate with vendors regarding additional site work as needed.
    • Assess vendor performance upon project completion to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Qualifications:
    • Minimum Diploma in Civil Engineering, Project & Facilities Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
    • Preferably possesses experience in tendering and project quantity surveying within the building construction sector.
    • Exhibits strong communication abilities.
    • Demonstrates effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
