Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer Job Description

  • Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to manage the calibration of instruments, oversee maintenance of site electrical systems, and develop SOPs.

  • About the Job:

  • As an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for managing periodic qualification (calibrations) of instruments for facilities, utilities, and process equipment. You will also oversee maintenance of site electrical systems performed by a Facility Management partner, inclusive of high and low-voltage distribution panels, lighting, power, earthing, lightning, and ELV systems.

  • You will be the system owner for paperless calibration and manage the setup of instrument calibration on a paperless system. Additionally, you will troubleshoot instruments and their related communication interface issues with Automation systems.

  • Based on process requirements and usage information provided by users or system owners, you will devise device tolerance and calibration frequency. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the site calibration and metrology program during inspections and regulatory audits, you will develop, revise, and review SOPs to ensure compliance.

  • You will ensure the training requirements are met for Instrumentation (Metrology & Periodic Qualification) technicians and manage instrumentation and electrical spares.

  • Main Responsibilities:

  • As an SME on Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) scope for assigned Tier3 projects, you will represent the business in engineering reviews for high and low-voltage distribution panels, lighting, power, earthing, lightning, and ELV systems.

  • You will review instrument specifications and ensure user requirements are met, supporting project execution, testing, commissioning, validation coordination for E&I scope.

  • Review construction drawings, such as instrument loop drawings, based on project specifications.

  • About You:

  • To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation and Controls/Electrical Engineering with 5-8 years of experience in managing E&I. You will also have industrial experience in the Biopharmaceutical/ API industry.

  • Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in commissioning smart sensors, knowledge of instrument communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, HART, Profibus PA/DP, and conventional.

  • Strong technical writing skills and experience with drafting SOPs. Ability to lead contingent staffs, external resources, including vendors and contractors.

  • Knowledge of OT-IT and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) is an added advantage.

  • Good knowledge of pharmaceutical regulatory market requirements and experience in participation of audits, such as FDA, EMA, HSA, etc.

  • Ability to handle vendor and subcontract management, RFQ, tender review, technical and commercial bid analysis report for proposed projects.
