Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment and systems, including motors, control panels, transformers, switches, transmitters, gauges, and other related devices. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and instrumentation issues, and make necessary repairs or replacements to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Investigate and identify electrical and instrumentation faults, failures, or malfunctions, using diagnostic tools and techniques. Analyze technical problems and develop effective solutions to restore functionality and address root causes. Perform repairs, upgrades, and modifications to electrical and instrumentation systems, adhering to safety procedures and industry standards.
- System Optimization: Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize electrical and instrumentation systems for efficiency, reliability, and safety. Conduct inspections, audits, and tests to evaluate system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions. Make recommendations for upgrades, replacements, or modifications to enhance system functionality and meet changing operational requirements.
- Calibration and Calibration Documentation: Calibrate and maintain instruments and devices, such as pressure gauges, temperature sensors, flow meters, and level indicators. Ensure proper calibration procedures are followed and that calibration records are accurate and up-to-date. Generate and maintain calibration documentation in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Leadership and Training: Provide technical guidance, support, and training to junior E&I technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge. Act as a mentor and resource person, sharing expertise and best practices. Collaborate with the management team to develop and deliver training programs to enhance the overall competence of the E&I department.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow and enforce safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and equipment damage. Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards. Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and risk assessments, making recommendations for improvement as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or a relevant degree is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, with progressively increasing responsibility and expertise.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation principles, equipment, and systems commonly used in industrial settings.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electrical circuits, reading electrical and instrumentation diagrams, and using diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., NEC, ISA, IEC).
- Experience with calibration procedures and documentation.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership abilities and the willingness to mentor and train junior technicians.
- Commitment to safety and knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
