Law Firm Compliance Manager

The role will be responsible for supporting a number of compliance programs including new business and conflicts intake and general regulatory risk management, while developing and maintaining substantive knowledge of and familiarity with the legal ethics, and professional responsibility rules applicable in the firm's geographic jurisdictions, particularly those outside of the United States, while also understanding the firm's procedures, policies, and practices relating to conflicts and other ethical issues.
This will involve assisting senior lawyers and other Conflicts Department staff in identifying, evaluating, and resolving ethical and business conflict issues relating to conflicts checks for laterals and new business, as well as performing legal research and analysis projects relating to conflicts or other aspects of ethics and/or professional responsibility as requested by the Senior Assistant General Counsels.
Additionally, the role will take responsibility for general risk management programs, such as accountant's letters, contract review, and any local compliance programs, providing support for local and regional anti-money laundering compliance, and assisting with the review and analysis of Outside Counsel Guidelines, Engagement Letters, and other terms of engagement with firm clients.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, a Law degree or an equivalent, qualification as a solicitor, barrister, or an equivalent foreign lawyer with an unfettered right to practice in their home jurisdiction, an active practising certificate or local bar membership, experience working in a conflicts team, post qualification experience preferably, general law firm compliance experience preferably, and highly developed and professional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels of the firm.
