Lead Power Plant Mechanic Job Summary

This role involves providing high-level mechanical support to power generation equipment in a remote polar environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe working environment and prioritize safety above all else.
  • Comply with environmental, safety, and health regulations, as well as quality assurance requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on generators, troubleshoot issues, and conduct repairs and overhauls.
  • Respond to power outages and equipment failures, and coordinate with supervisors for spare parts and maintenance.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in diesel-powered generators, marine diesel engines, or industrial diesel engines is required.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is expected.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with remote polar logistics operations.
  • Experience with Caterpillar documentation and software (ET, SIS).
Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods.
  • Successful completion of medical and dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica.
