Job Summary:
The Operating Theatre Technician plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and clean environment for surgical patients. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room for each patient, ensuring all equipment is in good working order and the environment is clean and safe.
- Assist surgeons and nurses in patient care, including positioning patients and applying tourniquets.
- Perform daily inventory checks on positioning aids and accessories, and maintain proper housekeeping of the operating room and surrounding areas.
- Clear soiled linen and surgical wastes, and ensure that disposable suction liners are capped tightly before discarding.
- Assist in the safe transfer of patients from trolleys to operating tables and vice versa.
- Perform terminal cleaning at the end of the list or after infected cases, as stated in the protocol.
- Transport patients from wards to operating theatres and vice versa, as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning of OT equipment, such as tourniquets and light sources, on a weekly basis.
Requirements:
- WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Operating Theatre Support) or relevant working experience as an Operating Theatre Technician.
- Possess initiative and a keen desire to learn.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
