Job Description:

The Data Centre Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in maintaining the operational integrity of the data centre. This involves providing vital support in ticket resolution, hardware replacement, fibre cabling patching, and fibre testing.

This includes:

  • Providing onsite or remote assistance to customers as required
  • Racking and stacking network equipment or servers according to client specifications
  • Installing fibre and UTP cables as necessary
  • Conducting regular inventory checks and generating reports for sites
  • Logging and tracking all incidents through an IT service management tool, adhering to the incident management process
  • Ensuring business continuity and customer satisfaction by supporting workstations, applications, and services
  • Collaborating with various teams, including vendors, network infrastructure, security, compliance, and others for project work
  • Supervising vendor activities and performing user-acceptability checks once tasks are completed

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 1-2 years of relevant working experience
  • Proven experience in data centre operations, preferably in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of data centre hardware, fibre cabling, and networking technologies
  • Certification in relevant areas, such as Cisco CCNA or equivalent, is advantageous
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving in a high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations if necessary
  • Physical fitness for handling equipment and performing maintenance tasks
