About the Job:
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a Research Associate position in the SLim Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing bioprocesses for plastic-degrading enzymes using E. coli as a host. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a multi-disciplinary project involving bioengineering, chemical engineering, and materials science.

Responsibilities:
  • Developing and optimizing bioprocesses for plastic-degrading enzymes
  • Executing experiments to achieve project objectives
  • Presenting results in various meetings and forums
  • Preparing reports for submission to funding agencies
  • Managing research projects and collaborations within and across labs
  • Liaising with scientists in the team and other groups to develop required expertise
  • Advising final-year project students and/or interns in the project
Requirements:
  • Masters degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
  • Working knowledge of fermentor operations for protein production using E. coli
  • Working knowledge of protein purification using AKTA FPLC and basic protein analytics
  • Familiarity with DOE is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with AI/ML for bioprocess is preferred
  • Able to design and execute experiments with minimal instructions
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written forms
  • Takes initiatives and leads projects, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes
  • Team player who participates in general lab activities
