About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Materials Scientist to join our Research and Development team. As a member of this team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment such as Nano-FTIR (nanoscale Fourier Transform Infrared) for advanced material characterization and analysis of nanoscale material properties in HDDs.

You will also develop models and experiments for hard disc drive performance to understand the interactions within the HDD, evaluate material properties and structural integrity of HDD components based on modeling results, and develop solutions to technical problems through the application of materials science and engineering principles.

  • Operate and maintain equipment such as Nano-FTIR for advanced material characterization and analysis of nanoscale material properties in HDDs.
  • Develop models and experiments for hard disc drive performance to understand the interactions within the HDD.
  • Evaluate material properties and structural integrity of HDD components based on modeling results.
  • Develop solutions to technical problems through the application of materials science and engineering principles.

This is a career-oriented, journey-level position that requires strong understanding of electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and material science. You must also have effective communication and interpersonal skills to work within and with other related departments in Seagate or suppliers.
