Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Art Conservator to join our team at the Heritage Conservation Centre.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conserving a diverse collection of artworks, including assessing, documenting and treating paintings according to established procedures.

  • Manage exhibition projects as liaison officer, covering conservation-related and administrative aspects of exhibition preparations.
  • Conduct and lead specialized conservation research projects to enhance collection knowledge and artefact significance.
  • Implement documentation and knowledge management processes to ensure that all conservation documentation are well-captured and accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Conservation with a specialty in Easel Paintings and 5-8 years of work experience as a full-time staff.
  • Experience in providing advice on complex conservation treatments, supervising staff members and managing exhibition and research projects.
  • Ability to lead, coach and impart conservation skills and knowledge effectively.
  • Familiarity with modern and contemporary artworks and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out conservation assessment, documentation and treatment on the National Collection.

Provide supervision, mentoring and training for junior staff to reinforce constructive behavior and performance.

Conduct and lead specialized conservation research projects to enhance collection knowledge and artefact significance.

Implement documentation and knowledge management processes to ensure that all conservation documentation are well-captured and accessible.

Participate in ad-hoc duties and projects assigned, including working groups, outreach activities, committees or events organized by the centre.

Requirements

Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work in a given timeline.

Ability to adapt in a multi-lingual and multi-racial environment.

Keep up to date with current conservation development through self-directed learning and training.
