Speech Therapy Assistant Role Overview

About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Speech Therapy Assistant to support our team of Speech Therapists in delivering quality care to patients with swallowing and communication difficulties. The role involves carrying out assigned swallowing and communication rehabilitation plans safely, preparing and maintaining therapy materials and equipment, maintaining accurate session documentation, and ensuring cleanliness of therapy areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Speech Therapists in delivering quality care to patients with swallowing and communication difficulties.
  • Carry out assigned swallowing and communication rehabilitation plans safely.
  • Prepare and maintain therapy materials and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate session documentation.
  • Ensure cleanliness of therapy areas.
  • Support caregiver education, including teaching caregivers swallow exercises and preparation of modified diet/fluid consistencies.
  • Facilitate communication between therapists and patients.
Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • GCE 'N' or 'O' Level or Diploma in any field.
  • Recognised Certificate in Therapy Services and experience as a Therapy Assistant in relevant clinical settings (advantageous).
  • Able to work well independently and in groups.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
