Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Patient Care: Attend to patients' call bells, assist with elimination needs, apply anti-embolism stockings, prepare patients for physical examinations, change bed linen and patient clothing, perform assisted baths, perineal skin care, and last offices.
  • Nutritional Needs: Document intake and output, order patients' meals, serve patients' meals and perform oral feeding, remove nasogastric tubes, assist with feeding patients via NGT/PEG, and perform continuous tube feeding.
  • Admission Procedure: Prepare for patient admission, measure patients' height, weight, and vital signs, orientate patients on ward environment and visitor policy, and perform initial assessments.
  • Inter-Departmental Transfer: Set up, handle, and replace portable oxygen tanks.
  • Clinical Test & Vital Sign: Perform vital signs monitoring and record measurements, 12-lead electrocardiogram, capillary blood glucose monitoring, collect urine, stool, sputum specimens, MRSA swabs, and dispatch them.
  • Drug Administration/Therapy: Administer oxygen therapy.
  • Nursing Procedures: Assist with application of physical restrainers, remove peripheral venous cannula, re-position bed-bound patients, assist with oral suctioning, complex wound dressing, IV cannulation, venepuncture, and initiate emergency procedures.
  • Patient Fronting Tasks: Manage visitor access to patients, provide teaching on infection control practices, follow up on planned discharges, obtain and follow up on appointments for discharged patients, and coordinate between wards and departments.
  • Bed Management: Perform headcount audits, request beds for transfers, update patient movements out of the ward.
  • Medical Records: Request medical records and X-rays electronically, file casenotes, and compile them for transport to HIMS/MRO.
  • Inventory Management: Perform inventory counts, asset tracking, top-up supplies, and fire safety checks.
  • Service: Engage patients and families in ward orientation and visitor policies.
  • Process Review: Participate in quality improvement projects.
  • Clerical Support Tasks: Handle incoming and outgoing mail, coordinate with porters to dispatch and receive items or supplies, conduct discharge processes, collect patients' property, and update patient information during daily ward rounds.
  • Portering: Transport patients for urgent procedures, porter patients on wheelchairs, and collect and dispatch items in urgent situations.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a safe working environment and patient area, cleanliness and tidiness of work and patient environments, and proper waste disposal.
  • Qualification Requirements: Minimum NITEC/Higher NITEC equivalent qualifications are required for this role.
