Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to lead our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing goal-oriented treatment through direct and consultative intervention strategies for students.

The Speech and Language Therapist will hold responsibility for Speech-language Therapy programmes, including programme planning timelines and administration. They will also support the development, implementation and maintenance of Speech-language Therapy services, including peer consultation, referral delegation of clients, clinical policies and guidelines reflecting evidence-based practice and within regulatory guidelines.

The Speech and Language Therapist will attend monthly meetings with the purpose of providing peer supervision, case discussion, discussing student goals and plans, communication and problem solving of Speech-language Therapy specific matters, organising/providing internal CPD. They will also participate in regular multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individualized education plans and intervention plans to achieve specific short term and long-term goals.

In addition, the Speech and Language Therapist will assist with the integrated therapy service model, collaborating with the therapy and teaching team in ensuring understanding of student Speech-language performance strengths and needs through evaluation, educational program planning, and delivery. They will provide general supervision to SLT Interns, implement and maintain supervision in line with the AHPC Singapore Supervisory framework, and keep up to date with AHPC's mandatory legislation.

The Speech and Language Therapist will also provide education and training to parents, teachers and other professionals, including awareness talks, in-service training and workshops, and keep abreast of current ethical practice and current diagnostic criteria. They will assist Head of Therapy and Pastoral Care in the orientation of new Speech-language Therapists and lead in providing mentorship to establish team bonding.

The successful candidate will ensure the safety standards of therapy rooms and spaces are of a high standard through continual observation of possible health and safety hazards through repair, maintenance and cleanliness of the rooms and all resources/equipment by observing AHPC required standards. They will report any issues, defects, repairs or maintenance needed in therapy rooms immediately both verbally and in writing, copying the relevant authorities.

The Speech and Language Therapist will maintain client confidentiality by ensuring that parent consent is obtained for information to be shared between the child's teaching, pastoral care and therapy team. They will liaise with Therapy Support to create and manage inventories of all SLT resources including assessment kits.

The role will also involve promoting development of speech and language skills of students, including but not limited to speech clarity, phonological skills, language comprehension and expression, social communication, and executive functions. The Speech and Language Therapist will provide targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and Speech-language performance within diverse school environments, including but not limited to the classroom, playground, fieldtrips, camps, special activities as part of the school routine.

They will conduct observations, administer screening tools and provide written feedback during screening for students on trial for an average of 2 students per week. The Speech and Language Therapist will also carry out an average of five (1 per working day of the week) Group Therapy sessions per week.

Requirements
  • Tertiary degree qualification in Speech-language Therapy
  • Registration with the Allied Health Professions Council, Singapore
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Teams, Outlook, Google Classroom and ability to use digital resources and educational technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to engage effectively with staff members, children, parents and other associated professionals
  • Good time management skills
