The role of a Tier 3 MSSP SOC Analyst involves providing leadership and oversight for Security Operations Center (SOC) operations. This includes advanced threat hunting, incident analysis, process optimization, and team mentorship to ensure the highest level of security operations for Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) clients.

This senior-level role requires extensive experience in SOC operations, including threat hunting and advanced incident analysis. Strong understanding of SIEMs, threat intelligence platforms, and security tools is also necessary.

A key aspect of this role is leadership and guidance. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance, conduct training sessions, and coach team members to enhance their skills and knowledge. Additionally, they will plan relevant certifications for team members and ensure continuous skill development.

Some of the key responsibilities of a Tier 3 MSSP SOC Analyst include:

  • Actively hunting for threats and identifying unknown vulnerabilities
  • Closing security gaps within networks
  • Identifying all security attack vectors, classifying incidents, and assessing their impact
  • Reviewing escalations from Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysts and providing comprehensive analysis and daily updates

Effective communication and documentation are essential in this role. The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with other teams and stakeholders, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex security challenges.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in SOC operations
  • Strong understanding of SIEMs, threat intelligence platforms, and security tools
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms and ticketing systems for incident response management
  • Leadership experience with a track record of mentoring and developing security teams
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and critical security incidents effectively
