We are seeking a skilled Animal Welfare Specialist to join our team.

About the Role

The Animal Welfare Specialist will be responsible for attending to animal rescue cases, prioritizing rescues according to level of risk and urgency, and transporting animals to the shelter or nearest veterinary clinic for housing and medical attention.

  • Respond to animal rescue calls within a stipulated time frame
  • Prioritise animal rescues according to level of risk and urgency
  • Attend to animal rescue cases according to safety protocols
  • Transport animals to the shelter or nearest veterinary clinic for housing and medical attention
  • Ensure that rescue vehicles, carriers, and all equipment are well-maintained and clean
Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Safe and humane capture of frightened, injured, or aggressive animals
  • Use of appropriate equipment (e.g. catch poles, muzzles, nets, cages)
  • Understanding species-specific behaviours to minimise stress/injury

  • Operating rescue vehicles and loading/unloading animals safely
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in field operations and ensure personal and public safety

  • Familiarity with animal welfare legislation (e.g. Animals and Birds Act)
  • Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and legal protocols
Requirements

  • Minimum GCE 'N' or 'O' level qualification
  • At least 2 years of animal handling experience
  • Valid Class 3/3A driving license, at least 2 years driving experience
  • Good road sense
  • Patient and diplomatic
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
