Turtle Conservation Specialist

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the conservation of critically endangered sea turtles in their natural habitat. As a volunteer, you will be part of a community-based project that aims to promote sustainable sea turtle projects in the wider Caribbean region.
The project is located in a remote area of Costa Rica, where you will work alongside local inhabitants to protect these incredible animals. Your role will involve assisting with daily and nightly beach patrols, operating a hatchery, and participating in research activities.
Your fees will directly benefit the local community, generating an income for them while supporting the conservation efforts.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Passion for conservation and wildlife protection
- Basic knowledge of biology or environmental science
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to new environments
- Hands-on experience in conservation efforts
- Opportunity to collect data on nesting dynamics and release of hatchlings
- Contribution to a sustainable project that benefits local communities
The main threats to sea turtles are caused by humans, including egg poaching and hunting nesting turtles. By participating in this project, you will help increase alternative livelihoods for coastal communities and achieve a long-lasting sustainable sea turtle management.
