Role Overview
Singapore American School Limited is seeking a skilled and dedicated Student Guidance Expert - High School College Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our college counselling department, you will play a crucial role in supporting students as they navigate the college application process.

Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced college counsellor to work closely with students, parents, and faculty to provide guidance on college admissions, applications, and academic planning. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in college counselling, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with high school students.

About the Position
This is a full-time position that requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably with a Master's degree and teaching or counselling certification. The successful candidate will have at least four years of experience in college counselling or admissions, with proficiency in technology related to college admissions and familiarity with scheduling systems. Excellent verbal and written English language skills, as well as interpersonal skills, are essential.

Responsibilities
The Student Guidance Expert - High School College Counsellor will be responsible for:
• Providing course advising services and support to current and rising grade 10-12 students
• Offering college application support services to a caseload of students in grades 11-12
• Teaching junior and senior college curriculum in advisory, seminars, small groups, and whole grade level presentations
• Fostering connections between social-emotional learning and the college application process in curriculum development, advising, and other supports
• Managing a designated caseload of juniors and seniors, including meeting with students individually and in groups on a regular basis, and supporting them with all elements of the college process
• Collaborating with the Personal Academic Counseling team to ensure sustained focus on students' social and emotional health through the college consideration, application, and transition processes
• Advising students, their parents, and the broader SAS community about the college admission process, trends, procedures, and testing
• Counselling and supporting students as they engage in the college research process, draft essays, and complete applications to colleges and universities
• Writing high-quality letters of recommendation and completing school reports in support of students' college and university applications
• Conducting individual meetings with students and parents throughout the school year
• Maintaining ongoing positive relationships with college admission offices and meeting with college admission representatives who visit SAS and Singapore
• Supporting and assisting students who are applying to colleges beyond the US, as well as those who are fulfilling their National Service requirement or taking a gap year
• Planning, publicizing, and presenting weekend, daytime, and evening programs for parents throughout the year
• Collaborating with Advisory Team, Learning Support specialists, and school leaders
• Taking on additional tasks within the college counselling department, such as maintaining the SAS College Counselling website and Facebook page, arranging college visits, coordinating UCAS applications, overseeing NCAA and National Merit materials, serving as PSAT site administrator, and more
• Demonstrating commitment to personal continuous professional growth and development, including visiting college campuses, attending local meetings with university representatives, and attending relevant conferences

Requirements & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
• Master's degree in a relevant field preferred
• Teacher or counselling certification preferred
• At least four years of experience in college counselling or admissions
• Proficiency in technology related to college admissions and familiarity with scheduling systems
• Excellent verbal and written English language skills and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with a variety of students, parents, and faculty in a high school setting

Compensation & Benefits
The salary for this position is estimated to be SGD $80,000 - SGD $120,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, the successful candidate will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
