Medical Device Technician Job Description

The primary role of a medical device technician is to provide technical support to healthcare professionals in the setup, operation, maintenance and decommissioning of medical devices. This includes offering technical assistance with the upkeep and maintenance of medical equipment.

  • Providing expert advice on the maintenance and repair of medical devices
  • Coordinating with external contractors for equipment maintenance ensuring high-quality work and adherence to industry standards
  • Collecting user feedback on the performance and quality of medical devices
  • Inspecting, analyzing and troubleshooting reported faults and issues, supporting engineers in developing corrective actions
  • Reviewing all maintenance work against required standards and quality initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Diploma in Electronics or Biomedical Engineering is essential
  • 3-5 years of practical experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work at all levels
  • Basic proficiency in IT applications is required
