Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise a team of technicians to ensure efficient and effective completion of diesel engine projects.
  • Contribute to the performance appraisal of team members and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Involve in the counseling process to address any disciplinary issues within the team.
  • Perform inspections, installations, repairs, upgrades, troubleshooting, and overhauls of diesel engines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, agents, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and satisfactory completion of projects.
  • Proactively report on job status and technical issues to the department manager and customers.
  • Prepare risk assessments and checklists for assigned job scopes.
  • Prepare job scopes, including technical information, work plans, schedules, tools, and tackles, and conduct daily toolbox meetings with the team.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure completion of allocated jobs within scope and schedule.
  • Submit accurate and timely timesheets and control costs by tracking man-hours and material and vendor costs.
  • Liaise with customers, sales, and other departments to update the department manager on additional work scopes and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Liaise with the supply chain management department for air ticketing and other transport arrangements for team members and materials.
  • Prepare hand-written work done reports and service reports with photos upon completion of jobs.
  • Prepare formal investigation reports with photographs as per Goltens Singapore format.
  • Provide formal recommendations and repair proposals on breakdown or failure attendance and corrective actions as required during work progress.
  • Generate spare part lists required for overhauls and repairs.
  • Prepare grant charts for work schedules as per Goltens Singapore format.
  • Maintain good knowledge of engine types, including slow, medium, and high-speed diesel and gas engines.
  • Ensure the workshop, plant equipment, tools, and good housekeeping are maintained in all job locations.
  • Ensure all testing and monitoring equipment/instruments are identified and maintained in good order at all times.
  • Read and interpret drawings, manuals, and code specifications.
  • Give priority to safety and health for yourself and colleagues and follow the company's environment, health, and safety policy.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the manager or management.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Marine/Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of working experience with Engine Makers and Marine/Offshore/Power Generation Industry.
  • Knowledge of high-speed Caterpillar engines.
  • Preferably with sailing experience and a Seaman book.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent in English speaking and report writing.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate ability to handle work professionally, independently, and efficiently.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Able to travel frequently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good team player with good attitude, integrity, interpersonal, organization, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of the Marine or Offshore Industry.
