About the Role

The Wellington Management InvesTech Associate Program in the Investment Services & Technology Department (InvesTech) is a unique opportunity for early career individuals to develop a strong foundation in financial operations and technology.

This program offers flexibility for successful candidates to explore their diverse interests in the financial services industry, developing a distinctive skillset relevant to the evolving investment management landscape.

As an InvesTech Associate, you will be part of a regional cohort, receiving training and skill-building opportunities to become proficient in processes and technology driving asset management, portfolio analysis, funds, and client engagement.

The position can be based in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Sydney, providing exposure to various cultures and business environments.

Program Details

Successful candidates will begin as InvesTech Associates, undergoing a first rotation through the Technology team to learn about Wellington's robust technology suite design, development, testing, and support.

During this rotation, InvesTech Associates will:

  • Engage with business users to assess technology needs, understand workflows, and propose solutions.
  • Create functional specifications and user requirement documents outlining enhancements, defect fixes, and system architecture integration.
  • Partner with development teams to build solutions and participate in testing efforts.
  • E nsure user acceptance by leading training sessions and gathering continuous feedback.

After completing the technology rotation, Associates will move on to a financial operations role, aligning with their interests and departmental needs, gaining insight into the asset management industry and exposure to groups across Wellington, including trading, portfolio management, legal and compliance, and client servicing.

Financial Operations Roles

InvesTech Associates may pursue roles such as:

  • Client Investment Services: Collaborating on technology initiatives to enhance client service, participating in questionnaire responses, customizing investment content, and supporting reporting tasks.
  • Fund Services Client Solutions: Assisting with technology projects, performing fund controller responsibilities, monitoring margin and exposure changes, stock loan analysis, and transfer agency tasks.
  • Client Operations & Transition Services: Focusing on infrastructure design and operation, enhancing quality, productivity, and cost efficiency in local language materials production, process design, client liaison, delivery platform, regulatory operations, and client transition and solutions.
  • Investment Implementation, Business Operations & Strategy: Providing controls and support for investments according to client guidelines and regulatory requirements, overseeing trade settlements, monitoring controls, and implementing investment ideas into client portfolios.

Qualifications

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be undergraduates graduating between Fall 2024 – Summer 2025.
  • Show demonstrated interest in process, technology, and the investment management industry.
  • Possess strong academic performance.
  • Have proven leadership experience and participation in community service and extracurricular activities.
  • Experience or coursework in systems analysis, software engineering, or business decision-making, particularly with technical skills.
  • Have work authorization to legally work in the selected office location without employment sponsorship.
