Job Title: Lead Design Engineer Marine/Offshore Piping

Job Summary:

Goltens is seeking a highly skilled Lead Design Engineer Marine/Offshore Piping to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing piping systems for marine and offshore applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop piping systems for marine and offshore applications, including preparation of piping material specifications, MTOs, and end connection fitting details.
  • Perform detail engineering and design of new piping installations on board ships, including generation of detail piping drawings for submission to Classification Societies for approval.
  • Evaluate structural analysis, loading calculations, pressure drop/friction loss calculations, and drawings.
  • Respond to Classification Society comments to expedite design approval.
  • Prepare piping specifications and pump specifications, including specifications for piping arrangement and piping support standards.
  • Preliminary equipment layout in engine rooms, pumps, and auxiliary rooms.
  • Study scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specifications, drawings, and plot plans.
  • Prepare piping information lists, layouts, and document lists following standard procedures.
  • Provide field engineering support and advice towards piping installation and testing on board.
  • Provide related technical and documentation support to customers.
  • Plan and work with design subcontractors for accurate delivery schedules and update project teams to communicate with customers.
  • Communicate and liaise with customers, principals, and other involved parties, as well as Goltens departments and sales staff, during project execution until completion.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Minimum degree or diploma in Marine Offshore Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in structural design and finite element analysis of ship or marine structures.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and experience in 2D and 3D design and naval architecture/ship design tools, such as Nupas Cadmatic, Autocad, and Point Cloud modeling software.
  • Knowledge of classification rules and requirements, statutory regulations, marine safety and technical codes, and other relevant engineering standards applicable to ships.
  • Understanding of basic piping design principles and rules for classification societies for marine and offshore applications.
  • Good skills and knowledge in project management.
  • Familiarity with classification rules and guidelines, such as DNVGL, ABS, LR, CCS, BV, and NK.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design and engineering of piping systems.
  • Experience in checking onboard piping systems for BWTS or other systems.
  • Experience in making piping design calculations, such as pipe sizing, wall thickness, pressure drop, pump head, air receiver, deluge firefighting system capacity, inert gas system capacity, BWTS, and Scrubber system.
  • Experience in preparation of P&ID for marine piping systems.
  • Experience in preparation and review of piping layouts, managing to update drawings and deliverables.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
