Theatre Production Specialist

This role is ideal for an experienced Theatre Technician who possesses a deep understanding of theatre lighting and sound. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of the school's drama and theatre facilities under the guidance of the Subject Leader.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain and oversee the smooth running of the technical aspects of the auditorium and black box theatres on a daily basis as well as during internal and external events.
- Design and operate sound, lighting and other effects during performances, as directed by members of the creative and production teams.
- Assist in sourcing, building and furnishing events and performances with suitable lighting, sound and scenery as needed.
- Ensure the maintenance and updating of the lighting, sound, costume, property and set inventories of the Drama Department.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with Nexus' Health & Safety Policy and promote a culture of safety.
- Attend production meetings and regular technical department meetings as required.
- Guarantee the public areas of the theatre and/or production space are in a safe and presentable condition.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation.
- Collaborate with learners who are part of the school's technical crew, assisting them with their work on school productions and events.
- Manage the work and schedules of part-time / project-based staff as and when they are needed, including providing basic technical training.
- Participate in whole-school events and activities as required.
