Youth Development Specialist Job Description

Objective: To lead and manage programs that support youth development, promoting social skills, behavior change, and community rehabilitation.

We are seeking a skilled Youth Development Specialist to work with youths in an institutional facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting needs assessments to develop suitable programs, risk assessment, and managing risks involved;
  • Planning, leading, and facilitating programs to promote youth development;
  • Implementing assessment tools to develop and evaluate group work outcomes;
  • Developing and planning group processes and intervention strategies;
  • Facilitating, evaluating, and reviewing therapeutic group work sessions;
  • Managing volunteers and engaging them in hostel programs;
  • Providing casework support, including preparing and attending case-related meetings;
  • Maintaining good working relationships with stakeholders, including parents and schools;

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong engagement and facilitation skills;
  • Knowledge and experience with social work interventions, social policies, and community engagement;
  • Effective communication and writing skills;
  • Diploma in Social Sciences or equivalent;
  • Prior experience in mentoring and working with youths;
  • Prior experience in working with youth-at-risk is an advantage.
