Job Title

The Student Welfare Officer role offers a supportive and inclusive environment for students living away from their parents.

To be successful in this position, you will need to build effective relationships with stakeholders to ensure each student feels safe, supported, and has a sense of belonging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a welcoming school environment for guardianship students.
  • Coordinate enrichment opportunities such as wellness sessions and community building activities.
  • Encourage participation in co-curriculars and key school events.
  • Share updates on student well-being, behavior, and engagement with safeguarding teams.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Work alongside the safeguarding team to identify and respond to concerns related to student living arrangements and safety.
  • Partner with families and guardians to document accurate guardianship arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, upholding relevant policies and processes.
  • Communicate expectations and standards of care for students' success.

Collaboration with Stakeholders

  • Engage with parents and guardians to establish positive working relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including sub-school teams and pastoral teams.
  • Act as a point of contact for school staff with guardianship-related matters.

Requirements

  • Degree holder with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams.
  • Proactive and able to take initiative.
  • Confident working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with children in an international or residential school context is advantageous.
